The Catalyst Program is managed by the Massachusetts Technology Transfer Center and provides up to ten $40,000 grants each year to Massachusetts-based university researchers and very early stage companies. The purpose of the program is to allow these applicants to develop proof-of-concepts or early prototypes, which can provide early validation of their technology, and to allow these researchers to reach a milestone that will attract follow-on funding, such as a Phase I SBIR or seed capital. Applications can be found here and are due November 3, 2014.
The InnovateMass Program provides grants of up to $150,000 with a 50 percent cost share requirement, and is targeted at clean energy and water companies to help them overcome the ‘commercialization valley of death.’ Applicant teams must include at least one technology developer (with a Technology Readiness Level between 5 and 7) and at least one early adopter. At least one of the co-applicants must be based in Massachusetts. The RFP can be found here and applications are due November 26, 2014.
